30 Day Drawing Challenge: Day 6

Day 6: Draw a childhood memory

(I must confess that I do not like how this drawing came out, but here goes) So, when pondering what exactly I should endeavor to illustrate for today, I remembered, for some reason, that there are a lot of cicadas around this year, which reminded me of how I used to collect cicada shells, back when I didn’t loath bugs for the creepy, crawly things they are. This is (supposed to be) a drawing of a much younger me looking in awe at a cicada, although I must confess that a) my head is too big, even for a little kid. b) I am bad at drawing trees/bugs/also scenery in general. Anyway, this drawing was done with inking pens and Sharpie markers, although I must remind myself never to leave such large skies that must be colored in, because it wears out the markers really quickly. 😦

Also, yes, that butterfly looks evil. It wasn’t on purpose, but it happened. Also, this is just a weird looking drawing. I am too short!

See you guys tomorrow for Day 7! (On which day I will hopefully have something more interesting to illustrate)

30 Day Drawing Challenge: Day 3

Day 3: Draw something on fire

So, this was probably a crazy idea, but I went with it anyway. Last night, when I showed my dad yesterday’s drawing, I told him that today I would have to draw something on fire. He (jokingly) suggested that I draw Katniss Everdeen from the Hunger Games, who, for the benefit of those who haven’t read the books or seen the movies, often wears various flame-inspired costumes, including this one, from the first book/movie, which I have chosen to depict below. This drawing was done with inking pens and Prismacolor pencil crayons.

30 Day Drawing Challenge: Day 2

Day 2: Draw your favorite holiday

Today, I have created for you a Thanksgiving dinner, with turkey, potatoes, peas and gravy. In my family, we always set up the Christmas tree and decorations on Thanksgiving, and its a time when we get to have special food like chocolate cobbler, which we often have with ice cream for desert. A word of warning about chocolate cobbler: We cook it in a glass dish, and once we put it out on the warm stove top just after it came out of the oven. The resulting explosion did not harm anyone, but it did leave a lot of glass and chocolate all over the kitchen. 🙂

30 Day Drawing Challenge: Day 1

Day 1: Draw an object on your desk

So, today I drew a geode that my aunt gave me. This geode has some pretty cool crystals and odd and colorful patterns inside, and its one of the many random objects I have cluttering up my desk. 😉 Below is a picture of the drawing, along with the actual geode for comparison. I used inking pens and Prismacolor pencil crayons for the finished drawing.

September Drawing Challenge

Hello, everybody! Tomorrow is the first day of September, meaning it is only a month until the publication of my book. However, a month consists of thirty days, and thirty days is a long time. It might be nice if I had something (mildly) interesting to post on the blog every day…

There are a lot of ‘Thirty Day Drawing Challenges’ floating around on Pinterest, and since I like to draw, but often have a hard time deciding what to draw, I’m going to be doing one of these challenges for the entire month of September, and posting my drawings right here on my blog. Here is the drawing contest, originally from acreativewife.blogspot.com, and also here on Pinterest:

Drawing Challenge

If anyone else wants to participate in this drawing challenge as well, that would be awesome! Let me know what you think in the comments. See you tomorrow with my first drawing. 🙂
